I’m not easily convinced by online strengths finders. In fact, I think most of them are gimmicky and over-generalized. However, when I took the Mettaflow S.E.L.F. Assessment, I was surprised at how accurate the results were for me.
At the time, I was stuck in a place of fear and negativity. My anxiety levels were through the roof. I felt financial pressures and I was scared about the future. But more than anything, I simply didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I felt alone and purposeless, and that’s never a good place to be.
It’s no surprise that when I took the assessment, my personalized results came back as a 5/1 Combination. “What’s a 5/1 Combination?” Well, simply put, it means I had great potential in areas of leadership, personal connection, empathy and motivation, but I found the prize hard (if not impossible) to attain because I was stuck in a place of paralyzing fear.
I recently retook the test and the results reflected my change in state. I scored a 5/4. Today I no longer live in a place of fear and frustration. The ICF certified coaches at Mettaflow helped transform my energy levels and ways of thinking, allowing me to conquer my limiting beliefs and develop a proven strategy for success.
As a result, I’ve been able to scale and grow my business and really come to terms with the importance of energy, Flow and self-awareness. I’d highly recommend you check it out.
So, if you’re interested in finding out more, here are six ways the S.E.L.F. Assessment will immediately change your life.
2,400 years ago, Aristotle said, “The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation.” Well, guess what? The same principle still applies today. Perhaps even more so.
In order to get where you want to go, you need to have a true grasp of where you are right now. And I don’t mean some quasai-self-reflective bullshit. I mean, really: where are you at in your life? What motivates you? What are you afraid of? What’s stopping you from living the life you were meant to create?
Once we become aware of our character defects and our strengths, we can begin to create a blueprint for success that allows us to crush our limiting beliefs and make our dreams a reality.
2. Energy Levels
Our bodies are hyper-sensitive and extremely complex organisms that fire off billions of neuro-transmissions every second. I’m sure you’ve probably heard of neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and cortisol, but have you ever really stopped to think what’s causing these to affect your performance?
Once I took the S.E.L.F. Assessment, I began to understand the six levels of energy at play in my life. Low-level energy (levels 1 and 2) are survival mind-states. These are characterized by high levels of cortisol and adrenaline. Higher-level energy states (levels 3 to 6), on the other hand, release your body’s feel good chemicals.
My unique energy profile allowed me to see where exactly my energy was being spent. For example, when I first took the test I scored a 20% Level 5 energy (very good), but a 19.5% Level 1 energy (very bad). As a result, I was able to see that fear and worry were producing negative chemicals in my brain. This not only slowed me down, but completely stopped me from reaching my true potential (levels 5 and 6). The chemical imbalance was too much for me to ever succeed!
So what did I do? Well, I got to work and used the Mettaflow results to recalibrate my daily routine, change my state and raise my energy levels to break through that mental block and become the successful, driven person I am today.
3. Understand Emotional Drivers
It’s amazing how much of our lives are defined by emotional experiences in the past. Maybe you were speaking in front of a room of people and had a panic attack? That’s happened to me. So my brain, which is hardwired to protect me from danger, rewired my neural pathways to say – “Stop! Don’t do any public speaking! Save yourself!”
These emotional drivers have existed in us for millennia, and we need to overcome them if we are to achieve any serious degree of success. The S.E.L.F. results profile identifies your emotional drivers so that you can clearly see what’s stopping you. In my case, it was things like fear, jealousy and underlying feeling of not being good enough.
Remember the old adage, nothing changes if nothing changes. I had to make my S.E.L.F. results work for me and conquer my emotional drivers. If you’re looking to become successful, you’ll need to do this as well. No one rises to the top if they’re chained to the past.
4. Hack Flow
If you haven’t heard of Flow, then boy are you in for a treat! This is one of the main reasons I became really invested in Mettaflow’s mission in the first place. Dubbed the “Secret to happiness” by TED speaker and renowned psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, involvement and enjoyment.
When you’re in a Flow state, your pre-frontal cortex stops working on overdrive. This produces that weird sensation that time is actually “slowing down.” In peak Flow states, you’re sharper, more engaged and better equipped to handle challenging tasks. Ever seen a pro athlete “in the zone”? Top athletes regularly access Flow during key moments. Michael Jordan said the game slowed down for him – that he literally knew the shot was going in before it left his fingertips.
The good news is you can hack Flow – whether you’re at work or playing in the NBA.
Try this Mettaflow tip: stop focusing on the problem you’re trying to solve. We’ve been taught that hard, relentless work leads to success, but really, that just leads to burnout or an early heart attack.
Take a brisk walk, change your breathing, move your body. Albert Einstein famously used to row his boat out to the middle of Lake Geneva and stare up at the clouds. Find what works for you and let it act as the trigger to enter a Flow state.
5. Fix Bad Habits
My unique S.E.L.F. Assessment Report highlighted a number of troublesome habits that were directly affecting my output, my performance and ultimately, my happiness.
When we looked at my results, it turned out that the majority of my problem could be traced back to bad habits. When we repeat actions over a length of time, we’re unconsciously programming ourselves for success or failure. What did I work on? Well, I changed my diet and started going to the gym six days a week. I made sure to get at least 7 hours’ sleep every night. I began to write down a gratitude list. I made clear, specific 3, 6, 12, and 36-month goals. And I practiced the art of visualization and meditation to bring myself into inner-alignment.
The result? The S.E.L.F. assessment helped me identify and pinpoint my bad habits, and replace them with strong, positive actions that take me in a clear direction for where I want to go. I’d highly encourage you to look at this area of your life, too. The results are truly incredible.
6. Strategies for Success
Finally, the S.E.L.F. assessment taught me the difference between ‘surviving’ and ‘thriving’. Yes, it’s possible to make money in low energy states, but you simply won’t feel that same level of joy and fulfillment that are commonplace in higher-level energy states.
As a consequence, I’m now able to respond, not react, to the stressors of my life in a way of my own choosing. I’ve created new neural pathways for success, written down plans and goals for the future, and taken tangible steps to get me to where I want to be. Think of the S.E.L.F. Assessment like your built-in, personal GPS.
If you’re feeling lost, the S.E.L.F. Assessment diagnosis will find and locate where you are at this precise moment in time. Then, it gives you clear directions to arrive at the destination of your choosing.
So remember this: you can either take action and create the life of your dreams, or you can sit by and watch it slip through your fingers. The choice is yours.
